The current Spring calving operation until this season has milked approximately 165 to 170 Holstein, Jersey and Holstein-Jersey X cows between 3 and 6 years of age and in 2016-2017 produced 77,333 kilograms of milk solids. Herd and production are both being increased this season.

The entire property is utilised as the milking platform with no followers on the home farm, maximising the potential milk yield. The 2016-17 season with 170 cows saw a lift to 77,333 kilograms of milk solids from 170 cows, of which over 25% were heifers. The previous three seasons until 2016/2017 have seen a production average of approximately 70,000 kg of milk solids with variations in returns only influenced by annual milk prices. With additional acreage now acquired, and adjoining lease ground utililised the milking herd this year will be increased to approximately 190 cows and a further production lift projected to approximately 85,000 kg of milk solids.

The cows are milked in an 11 aside swing-over herringbone dairy, upgraded milk line and clusters with recently installed ACR’s (Auto Cup Removal), 5,700 litre NDA milk vat, 8 tonne grain silo plus NEW 30 tonne grain silo, The feed system, electronic pulsation and hot water system, have all been recently installed. Inline electronic mastitis meters are being installed new for the 2017/18 season.

The main homestead is a comfortable 3 bedroom brick veneer residence with many updated features and refurbishments including new carpets and vertical drapes throughout, freshly painted interior, and recently renewed electric stove. The homestead has both wood heater and Off Peak electric heating options. Water to both residences is supplied from a domestic bore that also services some water troughs.

The second (and original) homestead is 3 bedroom weatherboard built in the early 1900s, featuring 10 foot ceilings, wood heating and updated electric wiring, new colour bond roof, guttering and flashing.
