The Almond Orchard/property consists of almost 1000 acres and is freehold, there is a title that extends to the river front where the irrigation pumps have been installed and the generous irrigation allowance of 12 mega litres per hectare is drawn from this location. There is a fertigation tank that delivers nutrients direct into the main line via a suction point located at the foot valve of the main irrigation line. There is a modest home situated on this property that overlooks the Murray River. The home has been tidied up for a family member to reside in however not been lived in for several years. The plantings have been added to since the original patch in 1999 which consisted of 99 acres. In 2000 there was the largest of the patches planted, 260acres, and a further 35 acres were planted in 2001. Other commitments meant that it wasn’t until 2006 that a further 70 acres were planted. The whole orchard is young and will continue to increase in production for many years to come. There is another 25 acres planned for planting with allocated water and approvals being obtained already. The plant and equipment is state of art to the point that the manufacturers of the current pickup machine have developed a prototype designed and tested on the property to suit the conditions Australia and Loxton can throw at it. The property is the pride and joy of the current owners having nurtured it since conception to the immaculately presented solid producing orchard it is today. Pride, TLC and Care are all words that describe the attention to detail and lengths that the owners have gone to too set up this beautiful orchard. It is with much regret yet some necessity that they have decided to wind down their operations and work toward retiring thus enjoying a less work filled and less stress environment.
