This home is one for those searching for a Queenslander. The materials used and the style faithfully adhere to those used in the 19th Century, the period this design replicates very well. The roof line is in exact keeping with the originals, the elliptical shape of the iron covering the verandas in particular.
The front door has a pair of traditional lead lights, and opens to a wide, wide hall with bedrooms leading off either side, the bathroom has a period style vanity with ceramic basin and a classic original iron “claw foot” bath. Then, the hall opens to a huge open plan living room. As with the bedrooms, original “French Doors” open out to the verandas, where to the North and West you look out on paddocks and greenery lining the permanent fresh water creek that forms the Western boundary of this unique small acreage.
The inspiration for this creation came from years of admiring 19th Century Colonial Queensland homes. Our seller started collecting early in life when buying his first modern Queenslander, from period furniture to various items that now feature in the home such the original timber panelled doors which are still “in the raw” if “shabby chic” is your style, you will love the character they create. The hardware on the doors is original too. Careful attention has been paid to timber selection throughout construction, the frame is solid hardwood including the roof trusses, unusual for the modern era, the floor is 6″ hoop pine “tongue and groove” as used in the originals, the veranda floors are 6″ tallowwood shot- edge decking and best of all, unrecognisable from the original timber handrails and wrought iron decoration, aluminium replicas have been used, far easier to maintain than the timber of old. Many other feature as well, such as huge colorbond shed plus an extensive man cave under the house plus a double carport in matching colonial style.

Reason for selling is a sad one. A year ago our seller lost his partner to cancer after a long illness and now has not the heart left to finish the project. As you will see when you inspect there is still much to do, however this shouts opportunity. Here you can start with 20 year old bones not 100 year old ones which are often in decay. Those searching for the right Queenslander on over an acre with a running stream as a rare bonus should check this property out. The price has been reduced, and now for a second time, in all $100,000 has been shaved off the starting price. Offers from $590,000 are now sought as our seller wants to move on.
