Beckers is located just 50km SW of Ayr and 1 hours drive South of Townsville and adjoining the intensive irrigation area of the Lower Burdekin. The property is just off the sealed Ayr Dalbeg Road and has a main irrigation channel running through one side of the property.

Area and Tenure- Lot 22 on GS1042; 4224ha (10,437.5 acres); freehold.

Improvements- there are 2 houses, 3 bay colour bond shed and hay shed. The main house is 4 bedroom timber and fibro and in good condition. The second is 3 bedroom timber with aluminium cladding in fair condition. The shed is lockable with 2 roller doors, power and concrete floor. Water is supplied by 4 interconnect poly rainwater tanks to the houses apart from the toilets. Water for the gardens and toilets comes under pressure from the stock supply system.

Other improvements include the steel and timber stock yards that can easily handle 300 head and a small hay shed. The fencing is all in good order with 3 holding paddocks at the yards and 6 main paddocks and a laneway.

Country- The property is just off the banks of the Burdekin River with Mt Dalrymple as one boundary Gladys Lagoon and the edge of the Burdekin Irrigation scheme as another. Away from the hills on one side the property gently slopes away to low granite ridges and a mixture of clay soil flats and duplex soils. Timber includes ironbark, poplar, bloodwood and some quinine. It is well grassed with buffel, seca and verano stylos, urachloa, wynn cassia and some black spear grass. The property has only recently been stocked with agistment cattle after a spell since mid 2010.

Water- The watering system is not only unique but very reliable. There are 2 pipeline systems from Gladys Lagoon which is a permanent water replenished by Sunwater as part of the irrigation system. A Yanmar diesel pump delivers water uphill along 4 km of 75mm high pressure poly to 6 poly tanks. This then feeds back down the same line to 3 troughs and the houses. Another system pumps water along 3km of poly via a Lister diesel pump to 3 concrete tanks supplying another 3 troughs and the yards. At this stage there is no cost for this permanent supply.

Along with a trough in each paddock there is also at least one dam in each paddock. There are 11 dams in all with at least 2 of these not permanent.

Beckers is in a 35 inch rainfall area and has proven to run 800 breeders easily with no lick. Access to trucks is generally year round with the exception being after prolonged heavy rain.
