A piece of Australian History
Fernhill Estate, is a private 1700 acre estate with historic sandstone mansion in the Mulgoa Valley. Recently sold by Teena Dwight from Dwight Real Estate, Windsor and Cutcliffe Real Estate, McGraths Hill for over $50 million.
Fernhill Estate is one of the most significant private properties in Australia and the largest in the Sydney Metropolitan region, located just over 60 Kilometres west of Sydney’s CBD in the village of Mulgoa.
With a history dating back two centuries, Fernhill features park-like landscapes, gardens designed by Paul Sorenson, pool, tennis court, spacious stables and thoroughbred training facilities, award winning Manager’s residence and three additional houses.
In the pioneering years of early Australia the renowned Cox Family owned and operated Fernhill, achieving recognition in agriculture and the Australian thoroughbred racing industry by breeding, amongst other classic champions, Melbourne Cup winner Grand Flaneur. The Cox family had a major influence on settlement of the area including construction of the access road to the Blue Mountains.
More recent owners include the Darling family and flamboyant property developer, Warren Anderson, who established a licensed private zoo housing unusual animals. The new owners Simon and Brenda Tripp, as well as utilising Fernhill as their private residence, intend to operate a world class equestrian and Function Centre.
