Gregory wheat was successfully harvest in early November pre-rainfall. Good rainfall in December recharged the moisture profile allowing us the opportunity to double crop the Airstrip and Kurrajong paddocks into grain sorghum- Pacific Seeds MR43. The crop was planted with a precision planter on one metre row spacing, and has continued to receive beneficial rains through out the growing period and is now enjoying grain fill with good moisture.
Livestock were removed from grazing paddocks into the lucerne paddock to be finished off for sale in Jan 09. The grazing country has been well rested and we have achieved excellent ground cover recovery and a bulk of native grass pasture ready to put cattle onto. This also includes the recovery of the improved area of purple pigeon grass which is vehicle height.
The Myall paddocks have been managed to plant a winter crop as soon as appropriate including management of weeds, and preparation for pre-plant fertiliser application, a full profile of soil moisture now ensures the winter crop to be planted on time.
Rainfall – January – 80 mm February to date – 121 mm
Maintenance of contour banks and roads has been undertaken in Jan-Feb 09.
