There are so many things to love about the elevated Razorback lifestyle. The ever changing views and distant horizons form a living canvas that highlights a beautiful seasonal backdrop.
There is a fascinating immense variety of birds, native animals and rain forest plants. The spacious garden is alive with colours, sounds and scents, and has many peaceful nooks to relax in.
The light and sunny north facing living room with its large windows is warmed by the sun in winter and shaded by the wisteria in Summer.
Enjoy dining in the evening on the back veranda or pergola, looking over the pool with the sun setting through the angophoras in the west.
Razorback is only a short drive to Picton, Camden, Narellan and Campbelltown for shopping, community activities and railway stations.
The home is architecturally designed to replicate a home from the 1890s with bullnose verandas, cedar doors, steep pitched roof and sand stock bricks. Modern home concepts were incorporated with large windows to allow light and sun to penetrate, raked timber ceilings, and a mezzanine. Internal doors were sourced from a home built in the 1890s. An efficient jetmaster fire is flued into the chimney, and a large slow combustion heater heats the living room, along with a reverse cycle a/c.
The home itself was built by Wayren Constructions in 1988. The garage, wide, and 4 metres longer than the two cars it houses was built in 1994 to match the house. It has a mezzanine area for additional storage.
The tank is over 100000 litres. A registered enviro cycle sewage system waters the tank garden and front garden.
The pool was built in 1998 by Narellan pools. Despite having no pool fences it meets council regulations for pools on land of more than 2 hectares, and has a current certificate of compliance.
Angophora subvelatina trees form a backdrop to the house along with various rainforest vines and small trees that have self seeded from the gorge below the house. The garden trees have been planted since 1988. They feature deciduous white cedars near the home that allow in winter sun and provide summer shade. Native trees and shrubs abound elsewhere, and cottage garden plants have been gathered from cuttings over many years.
With help from the Razorback Landcare group many weed trees have been removed from the western slope and 500 native trees planted. The block is perfect for bush walks which levels out in the valley with grazing possibilities. Pastures to the west of the block provide bushfire protection, but there is no evidence of past fires in the gorge to the west. Surrounding pastoral land isolates Razorback range from known bushfire zones including distant water catchment forest and national parks.
A productive vegetable garden is protected from possums and birds in the old chook pen.
Visiting native fauna include 80 identified bird species, grey kangaroos, wallaroos, swamp wallabies, possum gliders, ringtail and brush possums, echidnas, wombats and lace monitors.
