Windale is a suburb located on the eastern side of Lake Macquarie, situated about half way between Charlestown to the north and Belmont to the south. There are two primary schools, one catholic and one public. A local shopping precinct includes a service station, general store, pharmacy and newsagent. Other attractions include the Windale/Gateshead Bowling Club, the Police Citizens Youth Club, a Library, post office facilities, Tennis courts, Soccer Clubs & Fields, Rugby League Clubs & Fields and a Tenpin bowling centre. Windale is positioned near the West Charlestown bypass so it is easy to access all areas of Newcastle & Lake Macquarie. Windale was primarily established as a housing commission area however over the years much of the suburb has become privately owned by both investors and home occupiers. The nearest shopping centre is located at Mount Hutton which is within walking distance from much of the suburb. Much of Windale is level however being positioned on the eastern side of the Lake much of the area experiences coastal breezes on hot summer days. Windale is also located in close proximity to Newcastle’s beautiful Lake and Beaches.
