The unique house was built in 1996. It has four levels on suspended slabs, smart-glass double glazing, brick veneer and colorbond outer with stainless steel guttering.

The excavated lower floor contains double garages and workshop with hot and cold water at a sink, for cleaning vegies from the extensive garden. (Remember, some of Australia’s most productive soil is right here!)

The ground floor contains the main living areas of kitchen, lounge/dining, two bedrooms, bathroom, laundry and toilet. The view from the main room is breathtaking, as it captures bushland, Bass Strait and the northern sky through unbroken two-storey windows. Facing north, it captures the sun from early morning until late afternoon. Naturally, there are storage spaces everywhere. All traffic areas are tiled, and carpets soften the rest of the floors. Underfloor heating augmented by a heat pump makes winter living very pleasant.

The next level houses the master bedroom with a very large walk-in robe, and a bathroom with spa and shower and ensuite toilet. The bed looks out past a private enclosed patio to the morning sun and trees which hide the neighbours.

The upper level is simply spectacular.
It is here that you can see right round the compass from sea to mountains. The sun pours in all day, the light is wonderful, and there is enough space for a big den as well as sleeping room for extra guests.

And there is a garden of course.
The 1400 square metres of land have been thoughtfully developed to maximise use and minimise maintenance. Treated pine decks provide lots of outdoor living space. There are two barbie areas, one under cover by the kitchen for gas cooking, and another with a tradesman-built wood fireplace and grill for the steaks and the pleasure of an open fire. Decked paths connect parts of the garden, which is full of native shrubs, which attract hosts of honeyeaters and other birds in season.
The extensive vegie garden is terraced and fenced, and provides oodles of produce for eating fresh, for saucing or freezing.
Oh, and it takes half an hour to mow the lawns.

And all in the perfect location
