“Ivynook” is a stone cottage circa 1854, today with modern extension all within keeping of the character.

The front three rooms offer polished timber floors, thick exposed stone and rendered walls, large open fireplace, matchboard ceilings, a set of French doors, casement windows and one room has the original shingle roof exposed (under galvanised iron roof). The later addition offers kitchen with slate floor, original wood stove plus modern electric oven and hot plates, timber cupboards and bench tops, walk-in pantry, double sink and dishwasher.

There are three bedrooms, all of which have built-in robes. The bathroom offers claw bath, shower, the toilet is separate and the laundry offers water trough and outside access.

There is a paved area at the rear of the home for outside entertaining. Adjoining the home is a single carport with shade cloth, and further up on the land is a 20′x22′ lockable garage. Mains water is connected, and there is a 10,000-gallon rainwater tank.

The cottage garden offers an array of many different bulbs, plants and shrubs. There is a huge Elm tree, some significant Oak trees, fruit trees and a woodlot – plenty of space for the kids to play and explore.

The home was originally built as the General Store and Post Office for the area, but has remained as a residence for about 150 years.

A wonderful character cottage with a rich history, large private rural allotment of 1.62 acres (6,574sqm) – room for a pony! Only two minutes drive into the township of Birdwood.
