The History

Built in 1920 by Edmund Rosenstengel, the acclaimed furniture-maker, this home was always going to be different. Throughout his esteemed carrier, Edmund is remembered for special commissions executed during the 1930s including a gramophone cabinet for the yacht Tangalooma, Louis XVI-style furnishings for the reception room at the Brisbane Hydropathic Baths and furniture for the lord mayor’s office. He made a jewellery box of maple and satinwood, ordered by the Queensland government as a gift for the Duchess of York, and a suite of Louis XV-style furniture for the bedroom in Government House.

In 1958 the Rosenstengel family renovated the property turning it into two flats. Some years later, the home was sold to the second owners, the Eggert family. The Eggert’s decided to capitalise on the size of the home and its location by completing renovations in the 1980′s to the downstairs area of the home creating storage and additional space.

In 1991 the home was purchased by the third owners, the Timo family. For some time the property remained as two flats until being restored to a family home in the late 1990′s. The Timo’s made several changes to the property throughout the following years including the additional of the stunning entertainment area and the inclusion of the double garage.
