Owner comment
The principal reason that we were attracted to 31 Bertram Street was that it offered us an ideal home, in a quiet street, in a sought after suburb in an area close to good schools and amenities, in which to raise our young family, then comprising three children aged between 2 and 7. Additionally the adjacent reserve and playground offered ample outdoor areas for the children to enjoy and explore. The home allowed each of our children their own bedroom, which was their private space, and there was ample, spacious living area for the five of us to co-exist. This became increasingly important during the children’s teenage years.

Having the master bedroom at the opposite end of the house from our children, with a separate en-suite gave us the privacy that parents sometimes need, but we were always close enough to be alert to the needs of our children.

The garden was developed by me to be able to be used by the children and it has been home to swing sets, cubby houses and trampolines as well as being host to numerous barbeques and outdoor get-togethers.

I developed the garage den’ originally as a music studio, with the walls and ceiling lined with soundproof bats. In that guise it was home to drums, electric guitars and a piano. More recently it has been used as a teenage retreat and rumpus room and for sleepovers.
