Designed by award winning architect Peter Collins of Collins Caddaye architects and built to exacting standards, this north facing single level home is a harmonious marriage of functionality, technology and design.

Showcasing lavish proportions over 325 sqm of living that are accentuated by the use of high ceilings, engineered Oak flooring and floor to ceiling thermally broken double glazed doors and windows, in every room there is an emphasis on the transfer of natural light and the relationship with the stunning Karina Hobbs (Harris Hobbs) designed garden.

The central hub of the home is the kitchen, which features integrated Miele appliances, a Zip hydro tap and an abundance of storage. The kitchen adjoins the expansive open plan living area via a massive Caesarstone island bench which is stylishly adorned by three elaborate Coco Flip pendant lights. The living room opens via stackable floor to ceiling glass doors to seamlessly merge the indoors with the outdoor entertaining area, which is privately set behind a hedged periphery and features a commercial grade, electrically controlled retractable awning.

The wide gallery style passage leading to the accommodation wing is lined with custom joinery and looks into the internal atrium which is richly planted with mature Tasmanian Ferns, Japanese Maples rockery and other cool climate plants.

The accommodation consists of four oversized bedrooms, the segregated master retreat has a custom built dressing room, a palatial ensuite bathroom and a view down the length of the internal inground Magna lap pool. The flexible floor plan allows for the huge office at the front of the home to be used as a potential bedroom or as an additional living area. Likewise, there is a flexible space at the rear of the home, that could be used as an office, gym, library or rumpus. The house thoughtfully brings together the best of adaptable living features, from its emphasis on level entries to generously laid-out bathrooms.

State of the art technology includes gas fired hydronic in-floor heating, five zone ducted reverse cycle air conditioning, a C-Bus electrical control system, a Nuvo multi room entertainment system, a Vivavent heat recovery ventilation system and a 2.16KW expandable photovoltaic solar panel system. This understated masterpiece, uses timbers, steel and glass architecturally blended with no expense spared to create an exquisite and serene home, that is perfect for enjoying Canberra’s varied seasons.

A short stroll to Stirling Park, the foreshore of Lake Burley Griffin, local schools and shops, and is ideally located to maximise a unique Canberra cosmopolitan lifestyle. An inspection of this magnificent property is a must.

Owner comment
The visual beauty of our home is what we loved most about it. It was designed by architects and built with love to be both attractive and functional. We wanted it to be modest and unassuming from the outside, but inside to be a home that was warm, inviting, filled with natural sunlight, with a stunning internal garden that meant we always felt in contact with the natural world. Much careful thought was put into the internal design as well as the external landscaping to achieve this effect. The warmth of the house is felt as soon as one opens the front door, with high ceilings, engineered timber floors, expansive built-in bookshelves that line the corridor, and an internal courtyard that is filled with Japanese maples and ferns. The internal pool is a stand-out design feature: we wanted to be able to swim in our lap pool all year round. The rooms were designed to be spacious. The master bedroom at the back forms a retreat from the rest of the house with its generous ensuite and dressing room with walk-in wardrobe. From the master bedroom one looks onto the full length of the external garden which is paved with sandstone tiles and filled with a wide variety of trees and plants, many of them fragrant: citrus (lemons, lime, cumquats), bays (we wanted an edible garden) jasmine and gardenias, as well as deciduous species including dogwoods, cherry blossoms and ornamental pears. No expense was spared to make this a house that was comfortable in every season thanks to thermally broken glass on all windows and external sliding doors. The double glazing is complemented by in-slab heating and a powerful air conditioning system. Family life centres on a grand living space incorporating the kitchen, dining and living areas. This space is bounded by fully stackable glass doors which, when fully retracted, seamlessly merge the outdoors with the indoors whenever you wish.
