The Hermitage is situated on the scenic Black Spur approx. 20 mins from Healesville. The property sits on 32 acres of land and was built in 1894 by renowned photographer J.W. Lindt. The Hermitage is a heritage listed property and full of character, with the gardens designed by Ferdinand Mueller. the trees on the property are beautiful. Over the years much has been restored at The Hermitage, Lindt’s studio stands majestically amongst the trees.
Take a walk and smell the fresh mountain air with the scent of eucalyptus, there is an amazing 300 year old Mountain Grey Gum on the property that is listed on the significant tree register in Victoria.
The Hermitage is a series of buildings, however, the accomodation is centred in the main house. There are four queen size bedrooms, with a king single bed in two of the larger rooms. There is a fully functional kitchen, dining areas in both the kitchen and main lounge, two bathrooms, hydronic heating downstairs and in the lovely lounge an open fire. The house is surrounded by a verandah for lazy days.
There is a natural spring on the property and a dam. Walk up to Cathedral Lawn and take in the view of the Cathedral Mountains whilst having a game of bocce. Further beyond is the natural spring which feeds the property’s water supply.
Sit under the 100 year old grapevine whilst enjoying a meal.
