I have a room available in a fully furnished 2-bed apartment in Leicester Street in Carlton. The apartment is on the second floor of a 7-floor block, completed in January 2006. there is a very convenient convenience store on the ground floor level. The location is very close to the CBD, within a few minutes walk of both Swanston St. and Elizabeth St. tram lines, and a 10 minute walk to Melbourne Central train station. The University of Melbourne Business School is in the same street, the Law Building is around the corner, and the main campus about 5 minutes walk away.
The room is a decent size, neither big nor small. It has a comfortable queen size bed, bedside table and light. There is a built-in wardrobe, as well as ample cupboard space. The flat otherwise consists of the second bedroom (mine), a bathroom, a kitchen area leading onto a spacious living room, and a decent sized balcony with views into the CBD. The apartment is fully furnished and equipped, with bed linen and towels provided. There are all the necessary white goods (fridge, washing machine & dryer), kitchen equipment (+ microwave) and utensils. There is a dining room table, six chairs, a two piece sofa, TV with foxtel, CD & DVD player etc. Additionally, there is wireless internet to share. alternatively we are within range of the Melbourne Uni wireless system. There is a dedicated covered car park space available. There is also a lockable storage space in the basement available.
You literally have to bring nothing other than yourself & your clothes.
You share with a recent Melbourne Uni post-graduate student (now a lawyer) and my lovely cat. I am out through the working day, and am otherwise reasonably easy to live with. my main passion is sports, so I would co-exist most happily with someone who is similarly active.
I charge my flat mate $250pw, which is a little less than half the rent. Nothing else due, except telephone (if applicable). No bond, either.
I am open to the prospect of either a short-term housemate, or someone keen to stay longer. I prefer to share with an student since the Uni year timespan seems to work for both parties, preferably female (open to overseas students of course), who must be a non-smoker, but open to all applicants
It is a great apartment, I really enjoy living there. It is undeniably convenient for anyone who works in the CBD, and even more so for the University. If you might be interested, please call me (Julian) to arrange to see the place.
