We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring person who has the ability to provide administrative and supervisory assistance to our boarding house. The candidate will work closely with the Real Estate Office staff in providing support to the residents within the Boarding House. The candidate will have strong communication skills and demonstrate understanding of the needs of residents.
The position is a permanent part time position ideal for someone undertaking tertiary studies at UNSW to commence as soon as possible.
The position includes work that is in the evening and some weekend. Accommodation and parking is provided and remuneration included in this role. The candidate would be required to work part of every alternate weekend.

Responsibilities of the position include:
Know whether they will be charged for utilities such as gas, electricity, internet or water.
Be informed of all the house rules and be able to communicate to all tenants.
Know if they have to pay a security deposit and how much it will be. A security deposit cannot be more than the equivalent of 2 weeks occupancy fee.
Know how and why the occupancy agreement can be terminated, including how much notice will be given.
To know the use of the boarding house, and the fire safety requirements
To know the overcrowding and hygiene requirements for shared accommodation.
To provide room access if tenant is locked out, until a certain time.
To liaise with the Real Estate agent with all issues encountered and for resolution
Cleaning of all common areas etc.

The successful applicant will:
possess strong knowledge relevant to boarding houses
possess high levels of initiative and interpersonal skills
have the ability to organise others in a positive an effective manner
hold the ability to resolve conflict, solve problems, conduct difficult negotiations and provide constructive advice and assistance
hold a current First Aid Certificate and Australian Driver’s licence
possess strong communication skills
be highly efficient, being able to manage competing tasks and time effectively
have the ability to build rapport and relationships with residents
have experience working in a boarding house or similar environment
Possess a current police check report.
