Mount Superbus is the scene of the aircraft, Avro Lincoln Mk31 A73-64, crash site in April 1955, with six people on board. Due to poor visibility from weather and the need to fly at a low altitude, the plane crashed into the Border Ranges near Emu Vale – later confirmed to be Mount Superbus, the highest mountain (1375 metres). To this day there is still wreckage parts of this bomber just under the summit.
