Redirecting your Mail
When you're on the move it's important to let all of your contacts know where you are going. There are several ways to ensure that your details are updated with all relevant people and organisations:
Use Australia Post's services: Organise with Australia Post to have your mail redirected to your new address (this can only be done over the counter). Using this service for a period of three to six months is recommended so that no bank statements, bills or letters from old friends go astray. As a free addition to the redirection service, Australia Post's Address Notification service will let the organisations you nominate know your new contact details (this can be done online). Call Australia Post Addressing on 1300 363 242 or visit www.movingservices.com.au for details.
Do a mailout: If you have just purchased a new property, ask if the real estate agent provides personalised 'Change of Address' cards as part of the deal. This is a useful way to let everyone know where you are and is ideal for family members and friends that don't use the internet.
Get on the phone: Although you are wise to avoid calling organisations that use automated services, family members and friends will appreciate a quick call letting them know of your whereabouts.
